The candidate will be primarily focused on conducting hardware and subsequent software analysis and exploitation for the purposes of technical exploitation opportunities and enablement of examination of high priority digital media and other hardware platforms.  The focus will be on reverse engineering, failure analysis, and vulnerability analysis of provided systems via static and/or dynamic tools and techniques. Enablement of potential further analysis, repeatable exploitation processes, and technical reporting are also part of day-to-day activities. Embedded application design and testing for the examined platforms will also be performed.


  • Must be a US Citizen with a TOP SECRET security clearance (no exceptions)
  • Preferred degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and/or Computer Science
  • Working experience with a variety of normal and real time operating systems (e.g., Windows, *nix, VxWorks, QNX)
  • Working experience with processor architectures such as Intel, ARM, MIPS, PowerPC and their instruction sets
  • Working experience with programming and scripting languages (e.g., C, C++, Assembly, Python, and Shell)
  • Familiarity with hardware definition languages such as VHDL and Verilog
  • Ability to apply knowledge of C and Assembly software development for embedded platforms that run commercial and/or custom operating systems.
  • Working experience with common hardware based synchronous and asynchronous protocols used to communicate with onboard devices (e.g., UART, I2C, SPI)
  • Familiarity with static and dynamic analysis tools such as IDA Pro, hex editors, gdb, and Wireshark
  • Familiarity with hardware based debugging via JTAG and/or BDM and the tools used to do so (e.g., Seggar JLink, GreenHills Supertrace)
  • Working experience with common lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multi-meters, solder rework stations)
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills as well as the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong leadership interpersonal and verbal/written communications skills that enable the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.  


  • Experience with embedded system IDEs and tools such as Tornado, Workbench, VxSim, MULTI, TimeMachine, and TraceEdg
  • Experience in reverse engineering of embedded systems with proprietary operating systems for the express purpose of introducing functionally to an already existing fielded system
  • Working experience with hardware based debugging via JTAG and/or BDM and the tools used to do so (e.g., Seggar JLink, GreenHills Supertrace)
